Programme Overview

Offered over one year, the programme allows students to progress from foundational screen acting skills to advanced industry-ready performance. Training is practical, performance-led, and incorporates SSIPA’s signature blend of African performance traditions with global acting standards. Students receive hands-on experience in on-camera work, scene study, character development, audition technique, and screen performance projects.

Level 1: Foundations of Screen Acting

  • Introduction to acting for camera, on-set etiquette, and technical awareness
  • Scene study and script analysis
  • Fundamentals of character development and emotional expression
  • Voice, speech, and body awareness for screen
  • Practical exercises with camera work and playback

Level 2: Developing the Screen Actor

  • Advanced scene work, monologues, and ensemble projects
  • Audition preparation and industry protocol
  • Character research and continuity in screen performance
  • Movement, voice, and accent/dialect coaching applied to screen
  • Short film and digital media projects

Level 3: Professional Screen Performance

  • Industry-standard audition techniques and self-taping
  • On-set rehearsals and performance under direction
  • Acting for various genres: drama, comedy, commercials, web series
  • Advanced character work, improvisation, and screen presence
  • Public showcase and portfolio creation for industry exposure
